While we love to see you at Your Journey Health Club, complete wellness extends beyond the walls of a gym. That’s why we’re suggesting some activities in Trinity Florida to connect you to nature with healthy and outdoor adventures.
Whether you like walking, a swim, or a cuddle with a goat, here’s what to do in Trinity if you want to connect with nature and unplug for a bit.
1. Coastal Anclote Trail
The Coastal Anclote Trail is a 4.5-mile multi-use path that offers a safe and picturesque route for walking, running, and biking. It’s designed to connect trail users to local parks, providing a continuous greenway in southeast Pasco County.
The trail includes a longer route with three spurs, each leading to different recreational areas.
Key Features and Highlights
- Key Vista Park: Located at the north end of the trail, Key Vista Park offers stunning views of Anclote Key and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s an excellent spot for bird watching, picnicking, and enjoying the natural beauty of Florida’s coastline.
- Anclote Gulf Park: This park features a popular fishing pier, a dog park, and a scenic boardwalk that connects to Key Vista Nature Park.
- Anclote River Park: Further south, Anclote River Park boasts a swimming beach and boat launch. The park’s amenities make it a versatile spot for family outings and recreational fun.
The trail is almost entirely shrouded in tree cover for a cool walk even during the hotter months. It covers diverse landscapes from coastal views to wooded areas and open green spaces.
A range of wildlife makes it a great spot for nature observation and photography. Bird watchers, in particular, will find the trail rewarding, as it hosts many native and migratory birds.
2. Honeymoon Island State Park
Honeymoon Island State Park is a pristine barrier island located off the coast of Dunedin Florida, just a short drive from Trinity renowned for its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and outdoor activities.
- Location: 1 Causeway Blvd Dunedin FL 34698
- Hours: Open daily from 8:00 AM to sundown.
- Entrance Fee: Typically $8 per vehicle, with annual passes available.
Five miles of stunning sandy beaches are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and beach combing. The soft white sands and clear blue waters make it an ideal spot for relaxation and water activities.
Honeymoon Island has a dedicated dog beach, one of the few places in this area where dogs are allowed to enjoy the beach freely off leash.
The island is a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to eagles, owls, osprey, and shorebirds. The diverse habitats of the island provide excellent opportunities for observing both resident and migratory birds.
You may be able to spot dolphins and manatees around Honeymoon Island, particularly in the calm waters near the shore.
The nature center is a great place to learn more about the natural history of the area. It hosts ranger-led programs and tours to offer deeper insights into the island’s ecology and conservation efforts.
Recreational Activities
- Kayaking and Canoeing: The calm waters around the island are perfect for kayaking and canoeing. Rentals and guided tours are available.
- Fishing: The park is a popular spot for fishing, with abundant opportunities to catch a variety of saltwater fish. Anglers can fish from the shore or venture out into the waters.
Facilities and Amenities
- Cafes and Concessions offering a variety of options, including seafood and beach-friendly snacks.
- A new playground is a safe and fun area for children to play while parents relax nearby.
- The nature center’s gift shop offers souvenirs, educational materials, and other items that highlight the natural beauty of Honeymoon Island.
- Picnic areas equipped with tables and grills are available throughout the park.
Hiking Trails
- Osprey Trail: This 2.5-mile trail winds through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forests in Florida. It’s named after the ospreys that nest in the trees.
- Pelican Cove Trail: A shorter, scenic trail offering views of the island’s coastline and the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including gopher tortoises, armadillos, and a wide range of bird species.
Remember to bring bug spray, especially if you plan to hike, as the trails can be mosquito-heavy.
